NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION CONTEST

Happy New Year everybody! Yes, I know it’s not yet, but I have a great contest for everyone!

I’ve never been one to make resolutions. For me it’s a surefire way to do the opposite of what I wanted-lol. But this year, I think I’ll make several resolutions.

My first two are to blog more often and to be more generous.

So with those two things in mind I came up with the New Year’s Resolution Contest!

The Rules:

  1. Post in the comments your top TWO resolutions for 2010 for ONE entry.

  2. Be a follower or become one for another entry.

  3. Mention this contest in a post on your blog, or link to it on your sidebar, or both for another entry.

So if you (1) post a comment with your resolutions, (2) are a follower or become one, (3) mention this in a post on your blog AND/OR (4) link to it you can get a whopping FOUR entries!

See, that’s easy.

The Prizes:

A brand new hardcover copy of Suzanne Collin’s Catching Fire!

AND

A $20 Visa Gift Card to buy whatever you want! (I like chocolate and I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe...just in case you were wondering.)

*Contest ends Sunday January 3, 2010 @ 11:59 EST.* I’ll have an impartial person (my mother) draw the name from a hat.

Have fun and I can’t wait to hear some of those resolutions for 2010!

How funny -- I don't usually make resolutions either. But I do have a goal for this year: sign with an agent and get my books in print. Have I jinxed myself by putting it out there?

Sounds like fun, I'm in...

1. Write M-F at least a 1000 words.
2. Relish my family with more love than they can hope for.

Cheers to a year of hard work and a lot of love!

My top resolution is to OWN 2010. This is my year. There are a thousand tiny resolutions to go with that which include becoming a better writer and getting published. Does that count as two?

I'm already a follower and I shall blog about your contest tomorrow.

What a fun contest. I just became a follower. My top two resolutions are as follows:
1. Not to set unrealistic resolutions.

2. Do one thing every day just for myself. (Ha! Is that selfish or what?)

Fun contest! I'm a new follower. Resolutions (besides getting an agent)
1. To compete in the Provincial Swim Meet in March.
2. To polish my second ms. and write a third.

Sherrie, I have that goal too and no, we haven't jinxed ourselves. We have to speak it into exsistance--I think that's how that saying goes.

Tamika, love the 1000 words a day. I was doing that during NaNo but haven't been able to do it since. And love is always the best resolution because it comes so easily!

Tina! You OWN it girl!

Susan, thanks for following! Love your first resolution-lol.
And no, doing one thing just for yourself isn't selfish at all. Good luck with that!

Terrylynn, Thanks for following! The swim meet sounds awesome. Wish I was a strong swimmer. I'll be polishing a ms too. Good luck with the polishing/writing!

Ooh, I'm in. I'll follow as soon as I'm done commenting. Rather than resolutions, I'm going to call them "goals." In 2010 I will:

Sign with an agent.
Complete my YA ms.

Wheee. Bring it on!

Hey, we wear the same size shoe!

I resolve to read more, and I also plan on growing my hair out so that I can donate it by the time summer comes.

I'll link to your contest in my sidebar!

1. I won't commit myself to a word count per day, but I do resolve to at least *open* my WIP once every day. This may encourage more progress. :)

2. I will excercise on the elliptical runner at least 4 times per week, and will lose 5 pounds by the end of January.

Great contest!

I generally abstain from setting goals, as well, as that's the surest way to ensure that I won't accomplish it (case in point: NaNo).

However, my employer wants me to start setting goals, so I guess I should be mature and actually work on what I want, rather than trying a "no pressure" approach that also generally achieves nothing. (You can laugh at me - everyone does. ;))

SO - with that lengthy introduction, my resolutions/goals for 2010 are:

1. Get something published.

2. Lose weight/get healthy.

I don't think I have ever had a New Year's resolution. =]

Write at least one more novel, if not two.

Okay, here are two of my goals:

Finish (totally finish--edited and revised to perfection) my current WIP by June.

Write 1000 words a day BEFORE I can blog.

Happy New Year!!!

Diana Paz said...

Okay, here are my two (but I don't usually make them either! Ha!):

1) Finish my wip. As in, edited, revised, polished, as brilliant-as-can-be finished.

2) Get an offer from an agent.

Thanks for the chance!

Dang! Now I have to resolve to do something or not to do something. Okay, here goes-
1)I will get back to working out at least once a week.
2)I will keep the house and finances organized.

Phew! There I did it! Now, can I live up to it?

Well, I already follow your blog, so I guess I'll go make a post about the contest. :)

I'm glad I found this entry! But my two resolutions (out of a few) include:
1. Blog daily with an expection of two excuse days a month
2. Read two new books a month

I'm taking it month by month, but I'm sure I'll be able to handle these resolutions.

And I'm about to follow you. =D Plus I think I'll mention this in my blog entry.

Good luck.
