HELP! I Need a New Laptop!!!

No, I didn’t punch my laptop, but I really, really, really, want to. It’s been twitching when it first comes on, like it’s having a seizure and it will only stop when I position the lid in exactly the right way. Bad luck for me is that the position is not at all comfortable for me so I spend a lot of time hunched so I can see the screen. It’s not pretty, people. A few more months like this and I’ll have a hump on my back. But if it’s a millimeter off, the screen blinks so rapidly that I know it’s communicating with the devil or something, and I wait for the face of a killer to appear to tell me to turn around, cause he's standing behind me waiting to behead me.

Okay, so clearly I’m loosing my mind. Not to mention I’m a little too attached to my laptop and the fact that it’s leaving me for some cyber hussy is too much for me to handle. But that’s okay, I’m doing a preemptive strike. I’m leaving it before I can be dumped!

But I need help. What laptop do you recommend? I have a Compac Pesario and would probably not get another one, but it was a gift. I can tell you what I really want, A Mac Book Pro, but um…I don’t have $3000 just lying around. Not until I sell my book for billions of dollars, the movie rights for trillions and open my theme park for ga-zillions! Until then, I have to budget and I don’t want to go over $1000.

Help me! You all know what I mainly need it for, writing. So tell me how much you love your laptop and maybe I can find a new one! Otherwise, I’m heading quickly to a padded cell and no one wants to see that.

Love my computer! NO, no, no. It's a like, hate relationship at best. Plus, they don't even make them anymore. Loved your post so funny!

Beheading == my worst nightmare!

Cyber hussy -- :)

Hope you find the love of your life in a new laptop! Just beware, good looks hide evil too!

I'm a PC guy and every computer in our house, including the laptop, is a Dell. I've had it for four years and never had an issue.

Thanks, Yolanda. I am a bit crazy. I embrace it-lol.

Hey Alex! I've had a Dell before as a desktop--actually, I still have it--I didn't/don't have a problem with it, but it's just really old. So maybe I'll look into a Dell. Thanks!

My laptop died earlier this year and I was totally devastated but it had had it's day. It was almost seven yrs old. It was a Toshiba. I had to use my hubby's for awhile which is a more up-to-date Toshiba. I contemplated a mac but I couldn't afford $3000 either! So, I ended up buying another Toshiba for now.

Hey Jai,

I definitely still want a mac, but I'm going to have to work on it. If I can make my current laptop last for another month, then I can probably pull off the Mac. I'm trying to buy a house and don't want to take on another expense like that.

Hey Melissa,
It's crazy how dependant we are on our computers, but I'm just praying mine will hold out just a bit longer. However, I'm taking all these suggestions and keeping them on my list. Thanks!

Hey Kar,

I was offline for a week, so I didn't see this until now. That sucks!!! There's nothing worse for a writer than the death of a laptop!!!

I have an HP G72 Notebook PC. I paid about five for it and its served me very well--but then, it's only a couple years old so far.

Good luck finding something!! First the internet, now your laptop. Poor girl...you can't catch a break!

LOL! Punching the laptop won't do you any good, Karen. You know that you’ll only hurt yourself. I congratulate you for controlling your anger. :) Yes, a MacBook Pro would do. I also recommend the new HTC tablet. I had a chance to try out its features and personally, I think it's a good buy. HTC devices are known for their longevity, you know.

I seriously wanted to do that to my computer a few days ago. It was so slow!

If I had a dollar for every time that I wanted to punch my laptop, I’d be richer than Bill Gates. Haha! I don’t even know how I lasted that long with my crappy laptop. How old was your Presario, anyway? Right now, I’m just using my PC at home after I got rid of my laptop, but if you were to ask me, any laptop with at least 300GB of HD space, 4GB of RAM, and a 2.8GHz processor, should do fine for you. Unless you also like to play games on your laptop, then we’re already talking about a very different setting.

I did punch my laptop quite a few times out of frustration. I even threw it once, literally. It didn’t fix the bug, but it felt liberating doing it, lol! Unlike mine, which was hopeless beyond repair, seems that yours only needed a little repair. Anyway, what brand of laptop did you get yourself? Cordia Remsen @ RB’s Computer Service

Very dashing and attractive woody vases. Creativity is clearly showing. Nice work.
