The Blizzard of the Century!

Okay, well “Blizzard of the Century” is kinda premature as it’s only 2010, but hey it’s a pretty bad storm for this area. As you may know by looking at my bio to the right, I live in Maryland and we are under one of the worst storms we’ve seen in some time. You mid-westerners are probably laughing as this is probably just a typical Tuesday for you all.

We’re not used to it and now that it’s over, I want the sun to come out, the temperature rise to around 90 and for all the snow to melt! It’s beautiful, but I’m thinking of Monday when I have to go to work or tomorrow when I venture out with a shovel. Not fun! *pout*

Still, it was funny how the news panicked everyone. So much so that on Thursday schools announced that they were closing early on Friday. My job (I work at a doctor’s office in a hospital) closed at 1pm on Friday, because the snow was supposed to start at noon. I wasn’t complaining about that. I had food, plenty of T-paper and lots of dvd’s and I got home in time to watch Dr. Oz, Ellen and Oprah.

With that said, I still spent a good amount of time online shopping. *hangs head*

We had fun coming up with names to match the media drama. Like these for example:

Snow-mageddon (courtesy of the President)
Snow-appaloosa
Keyser Snöze (my personal favorite-lol)
Snow-gate
And
Sno-pocalypse Now

Okay, clearly cabin fever has set in. I’m off to watch a few episodes of Greek on Hulu . If you haven’t heard of Greek and love college shows (not like Animal House) then check it out! I’m in love with it.

I'm so glad I'm not there right now (currently in sunny California) but my sister is in Virginia and a tree fell on her car! The picture she showed me is funny and awful at the same time. Keep warm and have fun watching Greek!

My friends in White Marsh sent me pics of the snow drifts at their door. I"m glad I'm in FL. Stay warm up there!

Are you in the location where it's like 2 feet of snow? If so, even my MOM is all "oh my gosh" about it. And I live in Ontario, Canada.

HOWEVER, the snow will probably melt quickly. Soon enough, you WILL have your crazy temperatures during the winter!

But I hope you enjoy your relaxing weekend of staying inside! Just shovel the snow before it gets too hard to move!

Also: Stay warm!

Snow can be fun & annoying all at the same time :) Where I live (Northern Ontario, Canada) they rarely (two days in 20 years) close the schools, although they do pull buses off the roads if it's too dangerous. Apparently it's never too dangerous for the teachers & support staff to drive to school :)

It looks beautiful, but I'll keep my distance. Cold weather is my least favorite pastime, not even sledding would convince me.

Oooh, whatdya buy?! Also, Keyser Snoze (we must use our imagination to add the dots above!) is one of the best things I have ever heard.

You're definitely getting more snow than us--and I live in Alberta, Canada. But even we've had more snow than usual.

Thanks guys for such comforting comments, especially as we prepare for another 14-20 inches!

OMG, Nicole, I'm glad your sister wasn't hurt. We have a tree down in the neighborhood, but it didn't damage anything.

Karen, I live about 10 minutes from White Marsh and I'm wishing I was living in Florida again right about now!

Posum, yeah, I'm right in the middle of the 2ft mess!

Falen, you totally have to check out Greek! It's not as trashy as Gossip Girl but not as wholesome as A Different World. Plus something on the show usually makes me laugh every episode.

Joan, thanks now I've got to go watch The Usual Suspects! And I bought a new battery for my laptop, some CD's (Jagged Little Pill and Slippery When Wet amoung them) and some DVD's (My Fair Lady and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers). Clearly I'm in the mood for throwbacks. I also ordered more makeup from Avon.

Stina, Alberta Canada! Do you watch How I Met Your Mother? One of the characters is from Canada and it's funny how they incorporate it into the show.

Okay, LOVE Usual Suspects and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my absolute FAVORITE musical!

Check out my blog for an award. :)

Yeah, one of the radio shows here in MN likes to refer to all the pre-snowstorm hype as "Snownami" but Keyser Snoze takes the cake!
